GALA & MATTHEWS TRIO

Founded as a duo in 2016, when Butoh dancer Cecilia Gala began collaborating with Wade Matthews, the Compañía Gala & Matthews became a trio when they were joined by lighting wizardess, Pilar Duque. Thanks to profound training and experience in Butoh dance, Cecilia Gala shares with Matthews the will and capacity to build a shared artistic conception based on the perceived moment. And, of course, Pilar Duque works with light, literally the fastest element in the Universe, so her capacity to perceive, conceive and propose ideas must inevitably be extremely fast as well.
Together, they have presented works in festivals and dance series in Spain and Italy. Their most recent activity includes the premiere of 𝘟𝘦𝘯𝘰𝘱𝘩𝘰𝘯𝘪𝘢 at the Centro Atlántico de Arte Moderno in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria , and their free improvisation, 𝘓𝘢 𝘉𝘦𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘻𝘢 𝘥𝘦 𝘶𝘯𝘢 𝘦𝘹𝘵𝘳𝘢ñ𝘢 𝘤𝘰𝘦𝘹𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘪𝘢 at the Equipo PARA art space in Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
